First of all, I’m terribly sorry. I have left this place pretty unattended. Wouldn’t be surprised to find cobwebs around. But I promise it wasn’t without a reason.
I have been pretty busy lately. On a more personal note: I was finishing a couple of projects for a major that I’ll end up dropping anyway. It kinda sucks to start over, but I see this as an opportunity to evaluate which career I truly want to pursue. I know that it’s a harsh field, but I can’t help it: my passion lies with films and TV. And the possibilities are endless –I’m still unsure if I want something related to animation, if I want to write or edit, or if I would rather work with cinematography. Let’s see what happens.
I’m also working on articles (about anime and manga, what else!) for another site, which has me pretty excited. I can’t say anything more yet, but look forward to it!
In my free time, (If you follow me on twitter, you might have realized already, as I live-tweeted this week’s episode) I have been so obsessed with My Hero Academia, that I might as well write an essay about it. Expect one soon. Or two.
In fact, expect a video essay about it, since that is one of the things I’m also working on. I have received a lot of interesting feedback thanks to my survey and if everything goes well, I’m expecting to launch my channel by the end of July. I’m really excited! I really enjoy making videos. But it’s really time-consuming –and it takes a lot of work.
That’s why after giving it a lot of thought, I decided to create a patreon. That way, I’ll be able to work more freely and have access to more resources. If you like the content, please consider supporting me! I might publish my patreon page on the same day I launch the channel, which by the way, will probably just be my name.
That’s because, well, when I came up with “Otaku, she wrote” I thought this would only be a blog. I actually didn’t think I would end up with this project, yet here I am! And now that I think of it, it might not be the best name for a channel, but what the hell. I’ll make it work, somehow.
On a final note: I’m ditching the weekly links, as it seems I can keep up with them. I will do weekly updates instead, where I’ll share what I’m working and/on and perhaps, some reading or watching recommendations.
Until next time!
